Karen Israel

West Hartford, Connecticut

Karen Israel uses pastels to create portraits (people and animal), landscapes ,waterscapes, nature and still life. Pastel is a unique medium which is pure pigment, as found in oil and watercolor, that will not fade or yellow over time. Pastel is framed behind museum quality glass (showing no reflections), either with or without a mat. Karen can also paint in watercolor or oil upon request.

Karen Israel’s award winning paintings are defined by their dynamic compositions and unique viewpoints. She is influenced by the light and mood of the subject and lets those elements dictate her approach. These subjects are rendered with a strong appreciation for the rigors of formal design coupled with a fearless array of color choices.

Karen conducts many teaching demonstrations and pastel workshops throughout the United States. Her teaching schedule can be found at www.artbykarenisrael.com
