Martha Dominguez
Houston, Texas
Martha Dominguez uses mixed media, including acrylic paint, oil paint, charcoal, pencil, ink, fiber, paper, leather on canvas, paper, wood, etc. to create abstracts, many times detailed and intricate. Her love for nature, her interest in architecture and her dedication to the study of color lends itself to interesting, versatile subject matter.
Martha Dominguez is originally from Caracas, Venezuela and moved to the US in 1980.
She has dedicated her artistic career to the visual arts, fine arts and design. To be able to express herself she needs a special kind of freedom and she finds this freedom in the creative process every time a new piece is developed, every time a new mark is left behind. She communicates her thoughts bringing them to life by utilizing different media and this experience is presented to the viewer in search of a response, sometimes of acceptance, sometimes of rejection...
In every case what really matters to her is the inevitable connection between her art and the spectator. To some it will be easy to understand, to some it will be challenging, but to all it will become a memory to collect.
To Martha, art is a multitude. Freedom, emotion, scape, detachment, surrender, inner-peace, acceptance, self-expression..... Good and Bad, Beginning and End, Pretty and Ugly, Yes and No, Today and Tomorrow, Acceptance and Rejection, True and False.... All and Nothing!!
